Japanese breakfast performs new single
Japanese Breakfast delivered a live performance of her new single 'Orlando in Love' for the first time on Today's Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Details about the new album
The song is featured in Japanese Breakfast’s fourth album “For Melancholy Brunette (and Sad Women),” set to release on March 21 via Dead Oceans. The performance included a complete string section accompanying Michelle Zauner and her band.
“Orlando in Love consists of a mishmash of strange links,” Zauner explains. “The title is inspired by Matteo Maria Boyardo’s epic poem, Orlando Innamorato, which abruptly ends at 68.5 cantos due to an invasion by French troops. This left the author with no choice but to halt the narrative. I was enamored with the title, as it evokes a kind of bizarre, foolish female hero who resides by the sea in a Winnebago and is lured by a siren.”
This album marks Japanese Breakfast’s first full-length release since the 2021 album, Jubilee, and was recorded with Blake Mills at Sound City in Los Angeles.
