SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert Highlights
The moment took place last weekend, when the Grunge’s cult group was reunited for SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert. It featured the surviving members Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, and Pat Smear, alongside Post Malone on vocals.
This marked the second time the three members gathered together, following their surprise appearance at the Fireaid Benefit concert just two weeks prior, where they performed alongside St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, Joan Jett, and Frances Bean Cobain to deliver a selection of their greatest hits.
Post Malone’s Role and Audience Surprise
The Seattle legends’ appearance on SNL was a surprise for the audience, especially since Dave Grohl had recently been announced as a featured performer. However, it remained unclear whether he would perform with Nirvana, Foo Fighters, or solo.

With Post Malone chosen as the frontman, this collaboration came after the Hitmaker expressed his admiration for the trio, having previously performed a set of 15 songs with Travis Barker from Blink-182 during the 2020 lockdown.
At that time, Grohl had praised Malone’s performance, calling him “super cool.”
Now, with the clips going viral on social media, the official personnel of the event have gained online recognition. Check this above, where the group is introduced by Hollywood star Adam Sandler, leading to an electric performance of the classic ’90s track, “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”
In addition to the 50th anniversary concert, SNL also celebrated a major milestone last weekend with episodes featuring numerous stars, culminating in a performance of “Ebony and Ivory” by Paul McCartney.
Additionally, the show included appearances from Miley Cyrus, Lil Wayne, and others, with Sabrina Carpenter and Paul Simon opening the program with “Homeward Bound,” a song Simon once performed with George Harrison in 1976.
