Catch Ringo Starr and Ronnie Wood as they join Paul McCartney for the final night of the Got Back Tour in London!

Paul McCartney’s Final Show of the Year

Paul McCartney played his last concert of the year, concluding his 2024 ‘Got Back’ tour last night (December 19) at The O2 in London.

Special Guests and Nostalgic Moments

For his final performance of the year, McCartney brought excitement with special appearances by Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr and Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones.

During the show, McCartney introduced “Get Back” while discussing his old bass guitar that had been stolen over 50 years ago and was finally returned to him earlier this year. Holding the bass on stage, he remarked it was its first appearance since it went missing: “I haven’t played it in 50 years.”

He then prepared the crowd for another surprise: “And what’s more, we have a special guest for you. Rolling Stone. Ronnie Wood.” The two performed “Get Back,” as seen below.

After the song, they shared a quick hug, with McCartney raising Wood’s hand in triumph: “Thank you, Ronald.”

During the encore, to thunderous applause, McCartney announced: “We have another surprise for you. Bring to the stage the mighty, one and only Mr. Ringo Starr.”

McCartney playfully asked Starr, “Should we rock? Put on your kit, la.” They then performed two Beatles classics: “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club (Reprise)” and “Helter Skelter.”

Ringo, signaling the end of his night with McCartney, remarked, “Give it up. I’m leaving now, but I had a great night. Playing with me, old man, is fantastic, but there comes a time when it’s time for us to go home. All that remains to be said, see you next time.”

Throughout his performance, McCartney revisited his extensive discography, performing solo hits alongside numerous Beatles and Wings classics. The setlist featured timeless favorites such as “Hey Jude,” “Wonderful Christmastime,” “Let It Be,” “In Despite the Danger,” “Letting Go,” and more.

McCartney also performed last year’s Beatles track “Now And Then,” which he expressed earlier on the tour had struck a “very emotional chord” with him.

“Now And Then” was recently nominated for both Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance at the 67th Grammy Awards.

After months of teasing, Starr admitted that he thought the project was “wonderful” and described working on the track as “like John Lennon coming back.”

“Now And Then” was crafted from one of John Lennon’s demo tapes and completed with the assistance of artificial intelligence, which was used to extract the late musician’s vocals from the original recording so McCartney and Starr could collaborate.
