Paul McCartney Returns to SNL
Paul McCartney completed a 50-year episode of Saturday Night Live (SNL) with a performance featuring songs from Abbey Road – check it out below.
Memorable Performance Highlights
Last night (February 16), McCartney closed a special 50-year episode of SNL with a performance that marked his fifth appearance as a musical guest on the long-standing comedy show. This was his first performance on the show since 2012.
For his set, McCartney played three songs from the iconic album “Abbey Road” by The Beatles: “Golden Slumbers,” “Carry That Weight,” and “The End.”
McCartney began with a piano medley for “Golden Slumbers” before transitioning to “Carry That Weight.” To wrap up the show, he electrified the audience with “The End,” jumping onto the bench with his guitar as the crowd erupted in applause.

Before last night’s performance, McCartney had graced the SNL stage four times: in 1980, 1993, 2010, and 2012. He also made cameo appearances in SNL episodes in 2006, 2013, and 2015.
Other performers during the show included Miley Cyrus and Lil Wayne, who joined in on the anniversary celebrations. Sabrina Carpenter and Paul Simon opened the show with “Homeward Bound,” a song Simon famously performed with George Harrison in 1976.

McCartney’s medley on SNL was a highlight of the 50th-anniversary celebration, which also featured reunions of the remaining Nirvana members with Post Malone for vocal duties.
Additionally, David Byrne joined Robin for a performance of “Dancing on My Own,” while Jack White covered “Lazaretto” and much more.
During the closing show, McCartney’s ‘Get Back’ tour for 2024 at the London O2 in December will include appearances by former Beatles member Ringo Starr and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.
In other news, Paul McCartney recently expressed his intention to finish a new solo album by 2025. “I’ve been working on many songs and had to set them aside for the tour,” he explained. “So, I hope to return to this and complete a lot of these songs. My New Year’s resolution is to finish the new album!”
Meanwhile, the musician voiced concerns about proposed copyright law changes allowing AI to infringe on artists’ rights, which he argues could lead to a “loss of creativity.” His stance has garnered support from Elton John.
