Memorable Collaboration

The surprise collaboration took place during the Fugees star film at the Jazz in the Gardens festival at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Saturday (March 8). This performance marked only the second live appearance of Hill in 2025, following her SNL homecoming concert in New York on February 14.

“I want to introduce you to another sister,” Hill said as she welcomed her guest. See the highlights of the performance here:

Doechii later expressed her gratitude on her X account, saying, “Thank you, Ms. Lauryn Hill. My heart is so full. She is my hero. This is the greatest honor hip-hop can give me. Thank God! My whole body is now vibrating with joy. I will never forget this day! Always!”

“I have never been so nervous in my life,” she added. “She is the queen.”

Doechii was recently announced as one of the performers at Glastonbury 2025, headlining the West Holts stage on Saturday evening. This performance is set to clash with Charli XCX, who will be headlining another stage at the same time.

This summer, she will grace several festivals, including Rock en Seine in Paris in August, the Forward Festival in Bristol in the same month, and Roskilde in Denmark in June.

Earlier this year, she won the “Best Rap Album” award at the Grammys, becoming only the third woman to receive this honor after Hill and Cardi B.

Doechii’s song “Nissan Altima” was listed as one of NME‘s 50 best songs of 2024. In a four-star review for “Alligator Bits Never Heal,” NME noted: “Doechii embodies vulnerability in this project, yet by the end, she discovers comfort and strength, making the mixtape feel like a sound diary of her emotional journey.”

Meanwhile, Hill recently paid tribute to Roberta Flack, who she famously collaborated with in 1996. “I grew up listening to the music my parents cherished,” she shared. “Ms. Flack was one of their favorites and quickly became one of mine as well. She was poised, wise, gentle, and still fierce.”

“I will always be grateful for the sensitivity and delicate power of her love and artistry. Rest in your favorite grace.”
