Brian Eno and Batie Wolf Unveil Collaborative Albums “Luminal” and “Loteral”

Brian Eno and Batie Wolf Collaborate

Brian Eno and Batie Wolf have announced two joint albums titled “Luminal” and “Loteral.” You can listen to the lead singles below.

Art Meets Music

The acclaimed musician, producer, and songwriter Brian Eno has teamed up with the Anglo-American conceptual performer and composer Batie Wolf in a joint project.

Initially, they connected through environmental work at SXSW, focusing on art and climate change, which has recently been recognized as one of the top festivals in Austin in its 25-year history.

Eno and Wolf met during an exhibition of their visual and conceptual art in separate galleries in London. These interactions paved the way for their musical collaboration.

Both “Luminal” and “Loteral” are set to be released on June 6 through Verve. The first album is characterized as “Dream of Music,” while the latter is described as “Cosmic Music.” Fans can get a taste of what to expect with the lead singles: “Suddenly” (from “Luminal”) and “Big Empty Country (Editing)” (from “Loteral”).

The two albums were recorded sporadically over the course of 2024. In a joint statement regarding their new work, Eno and Wolf shared: “Music is a feeling.”

“Some of these feelings are familiar, while others may be unknown or complex mixtures of different emotions. Various languages and cultures have wonderful words for such feelings—words that don’t exist in English. By naming them, we make these feelings more probable and more perceptible.”

They added: “Art can evoke emotions or feelings that we have never experienced before.”

Following this, the two artists outlined numerous words that reflected “some feelings we explored” in their albums:

Eylyak (Bulgarian) … I go slowly, enjoying the process
Commuoovere (Italian) … Experience of movement
Dor (Romanian) … Longing or belonging

Last month, Eno unexpectedly released a new solo album, “Aurum,” marking his first full-length solo release since 2022’s “Foreverandevernomore.”

This recording is exclusively available on Apple Music due to its use of SPATIAL-AUDIO technology, meaning it will not be found on Spotify or other streaming platforms.

Eno also discussed the application of spatial audio technology by Apple and addressed the topic of artificial intelligence.

“For me, the biggest issue with AI isn’t the technology itself,” he explained. “It’s more about the fact that it’s controlled by a select few, and I find myself less interested in their opinions and increasingly critical of the impact their work has.”

Following “Foreverandevernomore,” Eno teamed up with Fred Again for a collaborative release in 2023 titled “Secret Life.”
