Capitol Records Appoints New Executive

Capitol Records has appointed Brian “Busy” Dackowsi as the executive vice president and head of Pop/Rock Digital Marketing at the label.

In his new role, Dackowsi will oversee the creation and implementation of digital marketing strategies surrounding the label’s releases.

This veteran executive will be based at Capitol’s headquarters in Los Angeles.

Experience and Achievements

Dackowsi joins Capitol from Atlantic Records, where he recently served as executive vice president for viral marketing and analytics.

With over 20 years at Atlantic, he has led multiple departments, including digital, marketing, and artist development.

During his tenure there, he spearheaded marketing campaigns that launched superstars like Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran into the spotlight.

Most recently, he worked in the pop and city genres, executing numerous marketing campaigns for artists such as Fred again…, Charlie Puth, Ty Dolla $ign, Sam Barber, Oliver Tree, and Curf Curse.

Dackowsi also directed the digital marketing strategy for the soundtracks of Barbie and Twisters, playing a key role in promoting these globally successful albums for the label.

Recent Developments at Capitol Music Group

Tom March was appointed chairman and CEO of Capitol Music Group (CMG) in February last year.

In March 2023, Universal Music Group’s Interscope Geffen A&M and Capitol Music Group officially consolidated under the new name Interscope Group of Capitol Labels (ICLG).

ICLG encompasses all artists, labels, and staff within the previously mentioned Interscope Geffen A&M and Capitol Music Group.

The Interscope Capitol Labels are led by Chairman and CEO John Janick.
