Capitol Records Appoints New Executive Vice President

Capitol Records has appointed Brian “Busy” Dakkovsky as the executive vice president/head of Pop/Rock Digital Marketing at the label.

In his new position, Dakkovsky will be responsible for overseeing the creation and implementation of digital marketing strategies for the label’s pop releases.

The veteran executive will be based at Capitol’s headquarters in Los Angeles.

Experience and Accomplishments

Dakkovsky joins Capitol from Atlantic Records, where he recently served as the executive vice president for viral marketing and analytics.

He spent over 20 years at the label, leading various departments, including digital, marketing, and artist development.

During the early years of his tenure at Atlantic, he spearheaded marketing campaigns that “introduced superstars like Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran to the world.”

Most recently, he collaborated within the pop and city genres, executing numerous marketing campaigns featuring artists such as Fred Again…, Charlie Puth, Ty Dolla $ign, Sam Barber, Oliver Tree, and Curf Curse.

Dakkovsky also directed the digital marketing strategy for the Barbie and Twisters films, playing a key role in promoting these global hit albums for the label.

Tom March was appointed chairman and general director of Capitol Music Group (CMG) in February of last year.

In March last year, Universal Music Group officially consolidated Interscope Geffen A&M and Capitol Music Group under the new name Interscope Capital Label Group (ICLG).

ICLG encompasses all artists, labels, and staff within the previously mentioned companies Interscope Geffen A&M and Capitol Music Group.

Interscope Capital Labels is led by Chairman and CEO John Janick.
