In 2017, frontman Jesse Lacy faced accusations of sexual misconduct involving a minor, leading tour member Kevin Devine to withdraw from the tour due to the allegations. Following two more women coming forward with additional claims, their UK tour was canceled, and their music was removed from all Spotify ‘Wrapped’ year-end lists.

Prior to this, the group had been hinting at a potential breakup, even selling T-shirts that displayed the dates “2000-2018.”

Fan Reactions to the Comeback

Fans of the group Reddit have now claimed their supposed comeback is a “Christmas miracle” after photos were found from a secret show rumored to have taken place at Nashville’s Inglewood Lounge last night (December 15).

“We all have to allow ourselves a certain level of hypocrisy,” one X/Twitter user stated after hearing the news. “And I’m currently feeling really bad about this supposed secret show ‘Brand New.’

When another fan sought more details, they mentioned that Lacey had allegedly performed a “private solo concert for family and friends around Christmas” in the past, adding that “this year it was today with the whole band and they were playing new music.”

Elsewhere on the group’s Reddit, users claimed to have discovered that “photos and videos are not allowed” at the Nashville concert. “About half of us thought it was nonsense, but then the sound engineer from the band All Time Low posted a photo on IG story about this supposed secret concert,” one explained.
“Some of the things in the photo looked very real: Jesse’s taxi, the lighting used on the Sci-Fi tour, and the sign on stage that said ‘No Photos or Video.’ However, the photographer of the new item revealed that he was in Nashville for his IG story.”

While some investigated, others joked, referencing recent drone sightings in New Jersey. “It’s funny how the entire state of New Jersey can’t provide a single real photo of drones flying over their house,” they quipped. “In the meantime, we can get a photo from this secret show in a private location where phones are not allowed.”
