Remix Release Announcement
Pet Shop Boys have released a remix of “Innocent Money” by Primal Scream, featuring vocals from Neil Tennant.
About the Project
This track is part of the “Come Forward” project, which showcases new renditions of songs from Primal Scream’s latest album. The remix by Pet Shop Boys for “Innocent Money” combines acid house influences from Chicago with Tennant’s distinctive vocals.
Bobby Gillespie shares, “When discussing potential remixers for the album ‘Let’s Go Ahead’ with our producer David Holmes, I felt reaching out to the Pet Shop Boys for a remix of ‘Innocent Money’ would be a brilliant idea. I believed the fusion of socially aware lyrics with an ecstatic, rhythm-driven track would resonate with the pop aesthetics of Nile and Chris. An unexpected bonus was that Neil sang on it, giving me the opportunity to duet with him—what an honor, as Neil is undoubtedly one of the iconic figures in British pop!”
This remix follows earlier contributions to the “Go Forward” project by Tim Goldsworthy, the Black Scientific Orchestra, and Terry Farley and Wade Theo. Farley’s involvement comes 35 years after he created remixes of “Loaded” and “Come Together” for Primal Scream.
