Special Performances and New Releases
Back in December, the Mancunian band showcased three shows at the Manchester Academy under the moniker The Burning House Party, featuring a set list that included hits like “Letter To Myself” and “Superpower”. They also played numerous tracks from their 2023 album, Anxiety Replace Therapy.
Fans enjoyed remarkable performances at The Lottery Winners’ Manchester shows with appearances from Bez, Reverend and the Makers’ frontman John McClure, as well as a tribute to Boy George.
McClure performed “You Again,” a song from the band’s upcoming 2024 LP KOKO, which features members of Reverend and the Makers.
Katie Lloyd, the bassist and vocalist of The Lottery Winners, described McClure as “the best storyteller you’ll ever meet.” Frontman Tom Rylance mentioned that the single was an “absolute smash” and added, “If I had to bet on any song from KOKO being a hit, it would be ‘You Again.’ Which is annoying because John wrote the choir, not me.”
During the performance, Rylance announced that the band “needed” Bez. Shortly after, the doorbell recording played, and Bez made a grand entrance through the red door, instantly joining the group on stage for a spirited performance and dance.
At one of the shows, a Boy George double made an appearance. According to Wigan Today, singer Paul Sutton, from the tribute band Boy Gorgeous, accompanied them on vocals for the song “Let Me Down,” which featured George on the record’s single.
