Bon Iver has released a new single titled “All Peaceful Love” – you can listen to it below.

The track will be featured on the fifth studio album of the project led by Justin Vernon, “Sable, Fable,” set to release on April 11 through Jagjaguwar (Preliminary order/preliminary damage here).

Upcoming Album Details

This marks Bon Iver’s first full-length record since 2019’s “I, I,” and follows last year’s EP “Sable.” Three songs from the last collection – “Things Behind Things,” “Speysid E,” and “Season” – will open the new LP.

Arriving today (February 14), the lead single “All Peaceful Love” features collaborative visual effects by director John Wilson. The track showcases Vernon’s vocals over a blend of malfunctioning and electronic instrumentation, creating a bright, inspiring, and romantic experience.

“All Peaceful Love gives me what I want for this album, all in one video,” said Vernon regarding the upcoming video, which was shot and edited by Wilson, known for his work on HBO’s How to with John Wilson.

“The idea that happiness and joy are the highest form of buoyancy and true survival, treating the world with less seriousness.”

Vernon further explained: “I knew what record I wanted to create that day when we made ‘Everything is Peaceful Love.’ I always envisioned it as a feeling I wanted to share first.”

“I wanted the video to be filled with unfiltered joy. Fortunately, Eric Timothy Carlson suggested reaching out to Wilson, the most sharp and cheerful program in all of television. We were lucky that John embraced this idea; he shot a bunch of funny footage and edited it all to the song.”

The new single is described as “a portrait of a person struck by happiness after encountering someone they will fall in love with.”

Last year’s EP “Sable” served as a “prologue” for Bon Iver’s fifth album. “Sable, Fable” will also include collaboration with HAIM frontman Daniel Chaim on a track titled “If I Could Wait.”

Other track names include “Story,” “Day of the First” (featuring Dijon and Flok Dam), “There Is a Rhythm,” and “Au Revoir.”

Produced by Vernon and Jim-Stek, “Sable, Fable” was primarily recorded at Vernon’s April Base studio in Wisconsin. The press release notes that the “conceptual genesis” for the LP occurred in early February 2022, “when the stack arrived at the base with Daniel Chaim.”

It adds: “Over several days in the snowy surroundings, Vernon’s vocals intertwined with Chaim’s, leading to ‘If I Could Just Wait,’ a duet focusing on the quest to be the best version of oneself outside the glow of new love.”

The description continues: “Like a fable, each track teaches a lesson, and ‘…the fable’ encapsulates a selfless rhythm essential when one is filled with another person or lover – a patient commitment to a pace for growth and unity.”

“The elusive and dense sound layers have receded, allowing Justin Vernon’s voice to shine compared to ‘I, I’ and (2016) ’22, A Million.’ The previous four albums embodied a seasonal cycle, which is now complete; ‘Sable, Fable’ is a canvas for raw truth.”

In a four-star review of Bon Iver’s EP, 2024 NME noted, “Sable can serve as a reminder of the light at the end of the tunnel and the reason to push through hardships – moving on to a new chapter.”
