BMG Unites Synchronization and Production Music to Create Global Synchronization Services Team Led by Amberly Cruse-Knox and Scott Dran

BMG Unites Global Synchronization Services

BMG has announced the consolidation of their synchronization and production musical teams into a new unit focused on global synchronization services.

The announcement indicates that BMG differentiates itself by providing a “universal store” for clients seeking to incorporate music into various media such as movies, television, advertising, trailers and promos, video games, and more.

According to the BMG statement released on Thursday (March 6), clients “now benefit from an optimized service offering and a unified team, resulting in a unique experience for both artists and songwriters.”

BMG asserts that this move establishes “the first-of-its-kind global power of music in the visual domain.”

Leadership Appointments in Sync Services

As part of this newly formed structure, BMG has appointed Amberly Crouse-Knox and Scott Doran as Senior Vice Presidents of Sync Services & Partnerships.

Crouse-Knox, who is based in Los Angeles, will manage operations in North America, while Doran, stationed in London, will oversee the UK, Central Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

Both leaders will report to Johannes von Schwarzkopf, BMG’s Chief Specialist, and will collaborate with Allegra Willis Knorr, EVP Global Sync Licensing, and Caspar Kedros, SVP Global Synchronization Operations.

Crouse-Knox has been with BMG since 2014, joining the company after its acquisition of the production music house X-ray Music, where she recently served as Vice President of Creative Licensing in the US. Doran came on board in 2016 when BMG acquired the British music agency Attitude Music, where he was a co-owner alongside Kedros. He previously held the position of SVP of Global Creative Licensing at BMG Production Music.

“The new BMG approach with the full range of services in the media will directly benefit our artists, songwriters, and partners while simultaneously enhancing our reputation for innovation.”

According to von Schwarzkopf, “Thanks to close collaboration among our specialized partnerships, artists, and songwriters, we are enhancing the connection between creators and clients, providing a high-quality repertoire with significant capabilities in film, television, advertising, and beyond.”

Significant Restructuring at BMG

This initiative is the latest in a series of restructuring efforts at BMG, both prior to and following Thomas Coesfeld‘s appointment as CEO in 2023.

Shortly before Coesfeld’s arrival, BMG integrated its new release and catalog music operations, making it the first global music company to eliminate what it described as the “outdated industry distinction” between new (“Frontline”) and older (“catalog”) recordings.

As one of his first actions as CEO, Coesfeld concluded a seven-year partnership between BMG and Warner Music Group/ADA in 2023, assuming direct control of distribution.

Earlier this year, BMG unveiled a new logo and wordmark as part of its BMG NEXT strategy. The company stated that the new branding “honors the legacy of the company as a champion of music creators, embodied in a bold new visual language that reflects continuity and innovation.”
