New Album Release

Last week, the Los Angeles-based artist (real name Sabrina Teitelbaum) revealed that her upcoming album, If You Asked For A Picture, will be released on May 2 via Partisan Records (pre-order here). This album marks her return to the studio alongside producer Yves Rothman, with two singles already announced: “What’s Fair” and “T&A”.

The title “If You Asked for a Picture” draws inspiration from a line in a 1986 poem by Mary Oliver. Teitelbaum shared, “There’s a part of the poem that says, ‘I don’t need to tell you everything I’ve been through. It’s just another story about someone trying to survive.”

“What I love about songs is that they showcase a snapshot of a person or a relationship, and capturing the essence can be just as vital as relaying the entire narrative. Occasionally, it reflects the complete picture more authentically than writing everything down.”

Blondshell’s self-titled debut album, released in 2023, received a five-star rating from NME, which remarked: “So Blondshell is a complete triumph in many ways. Rarely do emerging artists get the chance to change direction, recalibrate their sound, and let their life experiences elevate their music. Too often, creators are pigeonholed or dismissed, and that is precisely what may have occurred with Teitelbaum. Instead, we have one of the alternative rock albums of the year that we will cherish for a long time.”

She has also released the single “Docket” with Bully, which NME recently named one of the best songs of 2024.
