Lisa’s Casting Journey
Lisa Blackpink discussed her casting process for the third season of The White Lotus, which marks her debut.
The K-Pop star explained her role as part of the desire to “switch to a new chapter in my life.” “The opportunity for The White Lotus came up, and I thought, ‘Why not just give it a try?’” Lisa said. “I am already a big fan of The White Lotus—I had to try, even if I didn’t fully understand the process.”
Behind the Scenes of Casting
Lisa’s involvement started when her name was suggested during the casting in Thailand by the co-producer and director. Executive producer Dave Bernad noted that at that time, he and creator Mike White were unfamiliar with Blackpink, stating, “We treated her as we would any other casting.”
After submitting a video tape and receiving a follow-up call, Lisa attended a personal audition with Mike White. “He called to tell me that I got the role,” she shared. “It was not easy.”
While Bernad acknowledged initial concerns regarding possible distractions from Lisa’s celebrity status, those worries were quickly put to rest. “She couldn’t be more down-to-earth as a person… Her approach was as professional and dedicated as everyone else’s,” he commented.
Reflecting on her experience on set, Lisa revealed: “Acting is like a new world for me. There are many close-up shots and different angles, and I need to perform in various ways. I thought, ‘This is madness,’ but I genuinely had fun shooting.”
In addition to her acting debut, Lisa recently collaborated with Doja Cat and Raye on the single “Born Elight,” which will be featured on her upcoming solo album, “Alter Ego.”
