Björk’s Concert Film “Cornucopia” Set for Worldwide Theater Release

Bjork’s Concert Film Release

Bjork has revealed a limited theatrical release for her concert film “Cornucopia,” set to hit cinemas worldwide on May 7th.

Concert Tour Background

This film, crafted in partnership with Mercury Studios, features footage from the Cornucopia concert tour, which took place from May 2019 to December 2023. The tour consisted of 45 shows across North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia, and drew inspiration from Björk’s albums “Utopia” and “Fossora.”

The theatrical release will be showcased in approximately 500 cinemas across 25 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, the USA, and the UK. With a runtime of one hour and 39 minutes, the film also includes three curated musical clips from an Icelandic artist.

Bjork’s Vision and Storytelling

“It was a long journey supported by hundreds of people, and I am immensely grateful to each of them,” Bjork shares. “I believe a modern concert film embodies a matriarchal-friendly structure, well-suited to the current climate. I felt inspired by the vision of a completely immersive experience that brings ‘Utopia’ and ‘Fossora’ to life through surround sound. I aim to present a 21st-century VR experience in a 19th-century theater format.”

The film’s production, directed by Argentine filmmaker Lucretia Martel, intertwines music and theatrical elements. “There is a narrative thread throughout: the tale of an avatar as a modern puppet, transitioning alchemically from a pure creation to a fully realized being,” explains Bjork.
