Firerose’s Reaction to Billy Ray Cyrus’ Performance
Firerose expressed her relief that “the truth becomes known” following her ex-husband Billy Ray Cyrus’s troubled performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Technical Difficulties and Public Concerns
The 63-year-old country musician performed at the Freedom Ball, celebrating the new president, but faced a series of technical glitches: his guitar sound vanished, the microphone experienced malfunctions, and stage lighting went dark.
Many attendees raised concerns about Cyrus’s condition during the performance. Firerose, who finalized her divorce from Cyrus last year, reflected on the event.
“What is now visible in public reflects a lot of what I experienced alone during our relationship,” Firerose stated in an interview with People. “It is very sad to see that the same struggle continues for him, but I am glad that the truth comes out – for his potential good, because healing is possible only when you confront the truth and admit that there is a problem. As for me, I am still focused on my faith, my music, my healing, and using my story to encourage others to find strength and hope.”
Firerose’s comments came shortly after Cyrus’s son Trace shared a heartfelt statement expressing his family’s deep concern for Cyrus’s well-being.
The Metro Station guitarist, who is also the elder brother of Miley Cyrus and Noah Cyrus, remarked: “Unfortunately, the person whom I so desperately wanted is someone I barely recognize now. It seems this world has defeated you, and it’s become evident to everyone except you.”
Trace added, “Perhaps you were upset because I published this, but I genuinely care. The girls and I have sincerely worried about you for many years, but you have pushed us all away.”
He noted that he has been “sober from alcohol for over a year and a half,” directly addressing Billy Ray: “I don’t know what you’re battling, but I have a good idea, and I would love to help if you opened up to receive it. You know how to contact me. Until that day arrives, I will continue to pray for you.”
Cyrus himself addressed the inaugural performance, telling People: “I would not miss the honor of participating in this event, regardless of whether my microphone, guitar, and monitors worked. This is called rock and roll!”
Cyrus and Firerose tied the knot in October 2023 and separated in May the following year. The divorce documents cited irreconcilable differences and unacceptable marital behavior. Cyrus “fiercely” denied Firerose’s allegations of cruelty, claiming that he was subjected to “physical, verbal, and emotional” abuse during their marriage.
