Billy Bragg Celebrates Tony Benn’s Legacy
Billy Bragg commemorated the 100th anniversary of former Labor politician Tony Benn by raising his “five questions to ask an influential” figure like Elon Musk.
Five Questions for Influential Figures
Sharing on his Facebook page, the People’s musician outlined five questions aimed at Elon Musk, originally crafted by the politician and left-hand participant of the Benn campaign.
“Whenever I see how Elon Musk is gloating about how he emits waste to ‘wake up’ government departments, having fired hundreds of thousands of people at a whim, I think about the five questions of Tony Benn to ask an influential one,” he stated.
Questions: What is your strength; Where did you get it from; In whose interest do you show this; To whom are you responsible; And how can we get rid of you?

Tony Benn’s Political Influence
Tony Benn was a prominent Labor Party politician who, according to Keeper, transformed from being labeled the “most dangerous person in Britain” to a national treasure. He passed away at the age of 88 in 2014.
He became renowned for playing a significant role in shaping the left wing of the Labor Party during the 1980s and was especially respected for his anti-Iraq War stance, participating in the largest anti-war demonstration in the UK in 2003.
Upon his death, then Labor leader Ed Miliband said: “Tony Benn expressed his opinions and stood firmly by his values. Whether you agreed with him or not, everyone knew where he stood and what he represented.”
“His strong views, often contradicting his party, earned him respect across the political spectrum, stemming from his unwavering beliefs and his steadfast determination that power and the powerful should be held accountable.”
Musk has recently faced criticism for spreading misinformation about Netflix’s hit series, Teenager, claiming he sold the company he founded, X, for $33 billion, and allegedly deceiving during gameplay in Diablo 4.
In related news, earlier this year, a poster depicting Tesla appeared in London urging people not to purchase from the “swastika” billionaire, featuring the message: “It’s experienced from 0 to 1939 in 3 seconds.”
The campaign group “Everyone Hate Elon” seemed to have taken a cue from this poster, sharing a photograph of a banner placed at a bus stop.
In more news about Billy Bragg, he is among the artists slated to perform at the Latitude Festival 2025, taking place at Henham Park in Suffolk from July 24 to July 27. Other headliners include Sting, Fatboy Slim, and Snow Patrol, with JAXX Basement set to appear as “very special guests.”
Other acts confirmed for the festival include Lokot, Maribu, and Sigrid, along with later additions like Air, Kaiser Chiefs, and Reggie Watts.
