Channing Tatum and Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day were in the stands at Wrexham’s match against Cambridge United earlier today (December 14).

The club has garnered considerable attention since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney acquired it in 2021, enhancing its performance in the Football League and inspiring the Disney+ series Welcome to Wrexham. Tatum and Armstrong were present to witness the team’s thrilling last-minute finish to a 2-2 draw with Cambridge United.

Armstrong’s Love for Football
Armstrong has previously expressed his passion for minor league football and frequently attended matches while Green Day recorded their latest album, Saviors.
“I went to a lot of football matches: Arsenal, Leyton Orient, Fulham. I went to The Den to see Millwall. It was amazing. Dude, if you really want to experience British culture, this is what you should do,” he said last year.
He continued: “Football is a fucking religion. It’s like being at a big rock concert. You practically need earplugs! I’ve always wanted to check out all divisions, not just world-class teams like Arsenal and Manchester City. I wanted to go to some lower league games – especially Millwall, which has this gritty, angry, underdog, ‘nobody likes us and we don’t care’ vibe. This reminds me of being an Oakland Raiders fan.”
