Billie Eilish responded to Rihanna calling her her dream collaboration partner, revealing the feeling is mutual.
The exchange began when Rihanna told Access Hollywood that Eilish was her ideal collaborator, praising her creativity. “In my opinion, she doesn’t listen to commercial music. I have a feeling she's just journaling vocally. You can feel like she's just focused on who she is and what she's experiencing and what she's feeling,” Rihanna said.
Initially believing the comments were generated by artificial intelligence, Eilish shared her excitement to learn they were genuine. “She is literally my idol. She is the greatest of all time,” Eilish said.
“I’ve never heard of her or talked to her, so why would I even think about it,” Eilish continued. “Then she said, 'If only I could work with Billy.' I was like, “Well, bitch, I’ve been sitting here this whole time!” What the hell is she even talking about? Honestly. What do you mean by “If only?!” It's like I'm saying, “No.” Rihanna! Riri!? I will do literally anything you want.”
When discussing her overall approach to collaboration, Eilish explained that she prefers to work remotely. “My dream for a collaboration, other than what Rihanna wants, is not to contact anyone. Even if it's someone I'm very close to. Even people that I deeply love as artists, if we wanted to work together, I would say, “Cool, go home.” I'll do something alone. You do something alone. Then we will send it and work on it separately.”
