Bill Berr Tells Eddie Vedder “I Hathered Your Group” on SNL50

Bill Berr’s Confession

Bill Berr mentioned that he expressed to Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam that he once had a strong dislike for his band during a recent airing of Saturday Evening on the Air, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of the show.

Broadway Debut and Musical Interests

Berr was the final guest on Late at Night with Seth Meyers to promote their Broadway debut in the stage production Glengarry Glen Ross, where he stars alongside Kiran Kalkin, Bob Odenkirk, and Michael McKin.

The comedian, whose recent music news included a revelation about his potential familial connection to Billy Corgan, shared with Meyers that whenever he isn’t needed on stage, he retreats to his wardrobe to practice on an electronic drum set, playing tunes from AC/DC and Led Zeppelin.

Meyers, who also participated in SNL50, asked Berr about “fixing fences” with the head of the “unilateral problem” he had with the Grunge group. Being an adolescent fan of hair metal, Berr remarked that “Pearl Jam” was the band that signaled the end of his youth, as he told Meyers, “I hated your group. You finished my thing.”

He reminisced how Nirvana’s emergence changed everything, saying, “What happened only with good time and ignored all your problems with cocaine, right? It was all over.” Berr’s appearance on SNL50 allowed him to confront Vedder, admitting, “I did it in a kind way. I said, ‘Dude, I hated your group.’”

“And he broke up. Because now I love them,” Berr shared.

A joke titled “Changing the Heart” from Berr aligns with his latest special, Bill Berr: DEP Dead Years, where at 56, Berr opens up about personal regrets and growth in his behavior and outlook.

Barr recently garnered media attention for his candid views on billionaires, particularly targeting Elon Musk with harsh words, calling him an “idiot” and “Nazi” last month.

As for Berr’s connection to Corgan, their unexpected meeting facilitated by Howie Mandel in January wasn’t well received by Berr, who later indicated Mandel owed him an apology for the surprise.
