Beyoncé Jokes About Netflix Buffering Issues Before Christmas Halftime Show

BeyoncĂ©’s Halftime Performance Teaser

BeyoncĂ© shared a teaser ahead of her halftime performance at Netflix’s inaugural event, NFL Christmas Game Day, later today (December 25). Check it out below.

First Live Performance in 2024

Last month, it was announced that Beyoncé would make her first performance in 2024 during the Christmas Halftime Show, which will be streamed live on Netflix.

Invented Carter’s Cowboy Christmas, the special will premiere live on the streaming platform today, halfway through the Houston Texans’ game against the Baltimore Ravens, scheduled for 4:30 pm EST (9:30 pm GMT).

Ahead of the show yesterday (December 24), the singer shared a teaser of herself sitting on a chair in the middle of a football field playing a banjo.

As the video begins to zoom in on the “Crazy In Love” singer’s face, the clip pauses and a red Netflix buffering image appears for a few moments. Once it resumes, Bey laughs, seemingly poking fun at the streaming platform’s history with livestreams.

“Sending you lots of joy and love on this cowboy Christmas Eve,” the caption reads. “See you tomorrow in my city HTX.” Check it out below.

However, if you want to watch the show, you’ll need to act quickly as it won’t be on Netflix for long.

Under the platform’s agreement with the NFL, the two Christmas Day games—and Bey’s halftime game—will be unavailable in the U.S. three hours after the end of the live broadcast, making them inaccessible around 11 p.m. ET.

Outside the U.S., you will be able to watch the stream for 24 hours following the event.

Details of the special are being kept under wraps, although Netflix previously confirmed that she will perform songs from “Cowboy Carter” live for the first time and that several “special guests” will appear on the album. BeyoncĂ©’s publicist also recently denied rumors that the performance would last longer than 20 minutes.

Before Bey takes the stage, Mariah Carey will perform her Christmas hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” to kick off the two games.

Rolling Stone reports that Mariah Carey’s performance will be pre-recorded and will air before the 1:00 pm ET game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers and the 4:30 pm ET game between the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens.

“Cowboy Carter” received a five-star review from NME upon its release. Jenessa Williams wrote: “Even if interpreted only in terms of artistic spectacle, it’s an undeniable delight to see her so involved in a project that forces her to be so intimate and vocal, making way for country newcomers too.”

The album took seventh place in NME‘s list of the 50 Best Albums of 2024, and “16 Carriages” was named the eighth-best song of 2024.

In other BeyoncĂ© news, in November she became the most nominated artist in Grammy history. She previously tied with Jay-Z with 88 nominations each but has since been nominated for a whopping 11 awards at next year’s Grammys, all for “Cowboy Carter.” She now holds a record 99 nominations and in 2023 broke the record for most Grammy wins, taking home a total of 32 trophies.

Meanwhile, Stormzy recently revealed that he watches BeyoncĂ©’s show, Homecoming: A BeyoncĂ© Film – a documentary film-concert that traced the singer’s journey to her celebrated 2018 Coachella comeback, inspiring him to become a “superhuman on stage.”
