Bedemot Nergal Justified in ‘Insulting Religious Feelings’ Through Penis Crucifixion: ‘Justice Has Been Served’

Nergal’s Legal Battle

The frontman of the Hippo Nergal stated that justice “prevailed” after he was acquitted for “insulting religious feelings” in his native Poland.

In 2018, the singer, known as Adam Darski, published a video for International Women’s Day in which he waved around a penis-shaped artifact featuring a representation of the crucifixion while performing a children’s song.

This post led to accusations against Darski for violating Poland’s anti-blasphemy laws, which state: “Anyone who offends the religious feelings of others by publicly insulting the object of a religious cult or a place designated for public religious ceremonies is subject to a fine, restricted freedom, or imprisonment for up to two years.”

Last month, Darski was acquitted of two charges, and the third was conditionally dismissed. On Saturday (March 8), he took to Instagram to express his response to the news, asserting that the case should never have reached court.
