New ep release
Bat for eyelashes has launched a new EP that reinterprets the harp from her sixth studio album “Delphic Dream”, in collaboration with harpist Lara Somogyi.
Collaboration and recording
This EP includes five tracks from Khan’s latest album, remastered by Somogyi, along with five instrumental renditions. The collaboration was sparked when Khan attended one of Somogyi’s performances in London, leading them to perform at St John’s Church in Kingston for the launch event of ‘The Dream Of Delphi’. Later, they recorded the EP at Somogyi’s home studio located in Joshua Tree.
“It was a lot of fun working with Lara on this collection of songs, recreating something so musically improvised and ubiquitous,” remarks Khan. “Lara brought her beautiful versions of piano chords into the studio, and when she played them, I was so moved that I cried when I heard it. So pure and vulnerable.”
Thematic exploration
“Delphic Dream” delves into Khan’s journey towards fatherhood, portrayed through the character of the Witch Mother, tackling themes related to family life and existential wonder. The album is complemented by the film *The Dream of Delphi: A New Transmission*, co-directed by creative director Alexandra Green and director Freddy Leyden.
