The Japanese pop-metal group Babymetal has signed a global agreement with Capitol Records.
According to the company, this makes Babymetal the “first Japanese artist to sign a deal with a major label,” as announced on Monday, March 31.
Babymetal is set to release their new album Metal worldwide through Capitol Records on June 13.
This partnership extends “beyond metal,” incorporating collaborations with pop and electronic artists like SpiritBox, Tom Morello, Bloodywood, Polyphia, and Slaughter to Prevail—talents that Babymetal has engaged with during their global tours.
Impact on Global Music Culture
“The innovative sound of Babymetal and their compelling artistic vision have not only gained worldwide recognition but have also significantly influenced global musical culture,” stated Tom March, Chairman and CEO of Capitol Records.

As Babymetal celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, the group has “outlined a world tour featuring numerous firsts,” according to Capitol.
This May, they will embark on their first arena tour in the UK and Europe, performing 12 shows across eight countries and concluding at the O2 Arena in London.
Babymetal claims to be the first Japanese group to headline such venues. They will kick off their largest North American tour on June 13.
The 24-day tour will include a performance on June 24 at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York, followed by a concert in Japan and an Asian tour.
