Acquisition of Tiga Masters
Beat Music Fund, part of Dance Music Music Group, has acquired the rights to the “majority” of Tiga’s masters, DJ, producer, and founder of Turbo Recordings.
The company stated that the transaction includes rights to some of Tiga‘s tracks, including the hits Sunglasses at Night, Bugatti, You Want Me, Let’s Dance, and Removal featuring Kölsh. These tracks have collectively amassed over 33 million streams on Spotify.
The financial terms of the sale were not disclosed. Tiga described the deal as “a key moment for me as an artist.”
Collaboration and Legacy
“We share a passion for dance music and a deep respect for the creators in this space, and I look forward to the opportunity to work closely with the Armada team to revive my work and expand the influence of the genre,” he said.
Tiga began producing music in the late 90s and gained popularity with his electronic cover of Corey Hart‘s Sunglasses at Night in 2001. His subsequent albums, Sex and Ciao!, included hits like You Want Me.
Recent remixes highlight the continued relevance of Tiga’s catalog. DJ and producer Leighton Hordani‘s remix of Tiga and Audion‘s 2013 track Let’s Go Dance reached number 1 on the 1001 DJ Charts with over 2 million streams on streaming platforms. DJ Reign Sonsneveld and Zinterius‘ remix of Tiga’s 2001 track Sunglasses at Night has been dubbed the 2024 club anthem according to Music Fund.
Future Plans
Maikel Pyron, CEO of Armada Music Group, stated: “Tiga is the talent of generations who has left an indelible mark on the dance music industry. This acquisition comes as independent labels increasingly buy catalogs to generate income and revive classic hits.
Armada Music, known for legendary artists in the dance/techno scene like Chicane, Paul Oakenfold, and Ferry Corsten, launched Beat Music Fund in 2023 with plans to invest 100 million dollars in mergers and acquisitions in the first two years. Last year, Armada was reorganized under the new parent company, Armada Music Group, raising the target for the Beat Music Fund to 500 million dollars over the next five years.
Since its inception, the Fund has built a roster of dance music artists, including DJs and producers like Kevin Sanderson, Marcus Schulz, Robbie Rivera, Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Jax Jones, along with Amba Shepherd, Viva Music, Sola Records, and Chocolate Puma.
Beat, which stands for “the best when the acquired tracks” is backed by Pinnacle Financial Partners, a financial services firm based in Nashville, Tennessee, with 52.5 billion dollars in assets as of the end of 2024.
