Ariana Grande: “Eternal Sunshine” Deluxe Release Not Coming Anytime Soon – “I’m Not Allowed to Use That Word Right Now”

Ariana Grande’s Upcoming Album Status

Ariana Grande has confirmed that the deluxe version of her album “Eternal Sunshine” will not be released with the title “SOS SY.”

Insights from the Academy Awards

During her time on the red carpet at the Academy Awards of 2025, where she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Wicked—though Zoe Saldana took home the award—Grande spoke with Diversity about the status of the deluxe album and its expected release date.

The upcoming, luxurious version should not be confused with the “slightly luxurious” edition that was released last March, which featured four additional tracks not included in the standard release, along with contributions from Troye Sivan.

“It should come out,” she replied, but admitted that details about it were unclear to her. “They were more vivid days for me, so it’s hard for me to remember the specifics; they are foggy.”

When asked if it would be coming out “soon,” Grande stated that using the word “soon” was “not allowed.” “Soon means ten days or less,” she clarified. “At the moment, I am not permitted to use this word. I won’t use it today.”

Future Plans and Artistic Direction

The singer also made it clear that she has no immediate intentions of going back on tour. “I am very grateful to acting, and I think my fans understand that music and performing will always be a part of my life, but I don’t see this happening in the near future,” she explained.

“I hope that in the coming years, we will explore various forms of art, and right now, acting feels like home.”

Earlier this year at the Golden Globes, Grande provided a glimpse of potential expansion for the album, confirming her “affection” for the record “Eternal Sunshine” from 2024.

In a four-star review of “Eternal Sunshine,” Nick Levin from NME wrote: “On one hand, ‘Eternal Sunshine’ is a spacious yet introspective album defined by its emotional depth. ‘We both know that I cannot change you – I think you could say the same’ she sings on the title track. On the other hand, this is the most challenging project yet from a supremely talented vocalist who is continually improving. Regardless of your takeaways, ‘Eternal Sunshine’ is certainly not an album you would want to forget.”

In other news regarding Ariana Grande and the Oscars 2025, she and her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo opened the ceremony with a performance. Grande launched into the classic Wizard of Oz song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” while Erivo delivered Diana Ross’s “Home” from The Wiz.
