Annika Kilkenny Unveils New EP “I Am in Mud” Along with Single “Tango”

New EP Release

The Irish singer-songwriter Annika Kilkenny has unveiled her latest EP titled “I Am in the Mud,” featuring the standout track “Tango.”

Transformation Through Music

This new EP, produced by Ant and co-written with Emily Phillips, captures the journey of transitioning into adulthood. It illustrates a movement from feelings of stagnation to self-discovery, with “Tango” playing a pivotal role in the narrative.

“It was truly a joy to collaborate on ‘Tango,’” Kilkenny reflects. “I recall being in my room, experimenting with chords reminiscent of James Bond, and contemplating how I could playfully manipulate them. The phrase ‘The Ball is Your Course’ inspired the lyrical essence of this song, which embodies my personal journey. Later, this inspiration led to naming the track after the fiery Latin dance.”

Embracing Growth

Discussing the broader themes of the EP, Kilkenny emphasizes: “You must let your experiences shape you into the best version of yourself, take guidance from those you trust, and disregard unsolicited opinions or criticism from others. Seek advice when needed.”

Originally from Kilkenny, she previously supported Lauphi in London and has performed alongside James Vincent McMorrow, Pillow Queens, and Aimee in the vibrant Irish music scene. The EP follows her recent singles “This Has Formed You,” “Look, Mom, I Did It,” and “In the Garden.”
