“When we discussed potential remixers for the album ‘Let’s Go Forward’ with our producer David Holmes, I felt that asking the Pet Shop Boys to remix ‘Innocent Money’ would be a brilliant idea,” Bobby Gillespie said.

“I believed that merging the song’s socially conscious lyrics with an ecstatic and discordant rhythmic track could evoke sentiments reminiscent of Nile and Chris’s pop aesthetics. An unexpected fairy-tale bonus was having Neil sing on it, allowing me to duet with him—Neil, of course, is a cult figure in British pop. It truly is an honor!”

The remix of “Innocent Money” follows previous remixes “Ready” and “Love,” along with several other remixes. Notably, this comes 35 years after Terry Farley originally crafted the cult classics “Loaded” and “Come Together” for Primal Scream.

“Go Forward” was released in November and is the 12th studio album by Primal Scream. It received a four-star review from NME, which noted: “At times, the points can seem a bit too heavy-handed, and we could use some brighter peaks to lift us out of our stones—for example, ‘Heal Ourselves’ felt slightly burdensome, and ‘Melancholy Man’ stumbles as a somewhat aimless dirge.

“Ultimately, however, ‘Go Forward’ may have many fans on its surface, but it still packs a punch with several punk and protest grenades in its trunk.”

The band is set to embark on a UK tour celebrating the album, starting at the end of the month in Bristol. The remaining shows will take place in April and will include stops in Edinburgh, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, and more.
