Nicki Minaj Teases New Song on Instagram: “I Have a Surprise”

Nicky Minaj Teases New Music

Nicky Minaj recently shared snippets of new music via Instagram.

Earlier today (March 1), the singer took to her Instagram stories to announce to her fans: “I have a surprise,” followed by a live video in which she urged her frequent collaborator in front of the camera to “play a short moment” of her new material.

Exciting Audio Clips Revealed

The audio features the rap track “Starships,” with the line: “Plastic, instantly classic” accompanied by spacey vocals. Later, in a 30-second clip, a male rapper offers a glimpse that harkens back to her Trinidad roots, which fans have taken to mean the return of “Trinitsky.”

This announcement comes on the heels of her confirming a new tour set to launch in November, along with her “next official album.”

“Well, let me clarify,” she stated on social media at the end of last year, “you will receive a notice of a tour in 2025. With an album. Not that the tour will begin in 2025.”

This post comes less than a month before the rapper releases the final version of the Deluxe edition of her 2023 album “Pink Friday 2.”

In a four-star review, NME stated: “Pink Friday 2 is felt as a consolidation and clarification of everything that Minaj can do, including discarding references to pop culture that no other artist would consider. Thirteen years after Pink Friday, Nicky Minaj has not lost her ability to surprise us.”

Legal Matters and Accusations

Meanwhile, earlier this year, the rapper known for “FTCU” responded to a lawsuit claiming assault, filed against her by a former employee, asserting that the charges are “false and frivolous.”

In January, a 10-page complaint was submitted in Los Angeles, with Minaj and her company being the main defendants. The allegations included assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

A former employee claimed that the rapper struck him in the face during a concert in Detroit, Michigan, last year. Minaj’s lawyer, Jadd Jadd Burstein, vehemently denied the allegations, stating in a published Variety article:

“At this time, no complaint has been filed against Mrs. Petty (Minaj’s married name), and thus we are unaware of specific accusations.” He went on to criticize reports of the complaint published in TMZ, saying, “However, if a lawsuit as reported by TMZ exists, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident that this issue, raised by this former assistant, will be quickly resolved in favor of Mrs. Petty,” Burstein concluded.
