Legal Action Against Sean Combs
Creation of a group participant Sarah Rivers has initiated a lawsuit seeking 60 million dollars from Sean Diddy Combs, alleging that the controversial rap mogul engaged in sexual misconduct by pursuing her and touching her inappropriately during the filming of a reality show.
In the complaint filed on Friday (February 28), R&B singer Rivers accused Combs of retaliating against her within the music industry after she rejected his alleged advances.
New Allegations Surface
She joins over a dozen other plaintiffs who filed separate allegations against the rapper just before the closure of a two-year window under New York’s law, known as the Violence Law, addressing gender-motivated crimes.
Moving Katya Stone, DA Band singer Rivers claimed that Combs controlled her sleep, belittled her struggles with food disorders, shouted at her, and enforced manual labor, including an incident where he allegedly forced Rivers and her bandmates to walk an eight-mile round trip from Manhattan to Brooklyn to retrieve a report for him.
Besides the “inhumane” working conditions detailed in her lawsuit, Rivers accused Combs of sexual harassment, recalling a humiliating incident where the music director examined her back and remarked, “everything needs to prepare.”
Another alleged incident, described in the lawsuit as battery, details an encounter where Combs allegedly confined her in his recording studio, blocking her way and asking in a “low, sensual voice” if she needed anything. She alleged that he ran his hand over her chest while asking if she needed to inform him about anything, leaving her shocked and prompting her to escape.
“Regardless of how many trials are filed, particularly by those who refuse to reveal their names,” noted Katya Stone yesterday.
Rivers also alleged that despite her participation in three seasons of Creation of a group from 2002 to 2004, she was never adequately compensated. Instead, she claimed the group was given only $5,000 in cash after their tour.
She asserted that the only payment she received was after feeling “pressured” to sign a publication agreement with a company owned by Combs himself. “Diddy stated that if the plaintiff did not sign, the group would not continue,” claimed the lawsuit. In return for her signature, Rivers reported receiving a one-time payment of $25,000.
She further contended that her rejection of Combs’ sexual advances led to her termination and the breakup of the entire group after she declined an offer from Playboy magazine.
Rivers claims that after her expulsion from Bad Boy, her efforts to further her music career were hindered by Combs, who reportedly intervened in a potential deal with Capitol Records, later discovered to have “personally called the executives at the label, advising them not to sign her.”
On Wednesday (February 26), a male escort from Florida also filed a lawsuit against Combs, alleging sexual violence in 2012.
Combs was arrested and charged with various crimes, including sexual trafficking and racketeering in September of last year and is currently awaiting trial in federal prison, consistently denying all allegations against him.
In other news, one of Combs’s lawyers has recently departed from the forthcoming criminal case related to sexual trafficking, scheduled for May 5.
