New Single from Girl in Red

Introspective Themes

The established, intimate track finds the Norwegian singer-songwriter (the present name of Marie Ulven) in vulnerable and introspective thinking, closely resembling her earlier work.

The song, which is part of the Mandente in 30-second snippets, represents Ulven’s first solo material after her 2024 album, “Making this, Baby!”

There is a part of me nostalgic / from everything that was / is part of me who knows / I would not do it again“, Girl in Red sings in muted vocals over raw, acoustic instrumentals.

This summer, Girl in Red will perform at numerous European festivals, including Rock Werchter and Eya. She will also open for Olivia Rodrigo at her BST HYDE PARK show in London in June of this year. Plus, the musician is scheduled for various dates in Mexico and South America next month.

Upcoming Film and Reviews

Meanwhile, Ulven will debut in her first acting role in the upcoming film Low Expectations, where she plays the main character, Maji—a 29-year-old artist grappling with “devastation” after years of intense success.

In a three-star review, NME described “I do it again, baby!” as “a wonderful album; it is fun and cute, although a little soft.” They added, “This is a polished record that takes few risks and leaves little room for mistakes—although it could be more interesting if it did.”

In a discussion with NME during the album release, Girl in Red talked about incorporating country elements into the record and expressed her desire to explore new sounds.

“Just because it is fun! I feel that in this album I just want to have fun, and I just want to do something because it’s fun,” she said.

“And also in sound, I said—this is damn cool. It hurts damn. I’m just going mainly with my intuition. I can’t read music or notes; I don’t know anything musical except how I feel.”

She added: “It’s so funny when the damn banjo comes in. And then the main line is everything: ‘I love this new self-esteem.’ This is just gloomy, great energy of Dika. I’m just f***ing with this. And also, Beyoncé just made a country song, so she is modern.”
