Didi’s Mother Sues Co-Founder of Bad Boy Label for Fraud

Overview of the Lawsuit

Jenis Smalls-Comb-Chem “Didi” Combs was taken to court by Bad Boy co-founder Kirk Burrowes.

In the lawsuit filed today (February 27) in Manhattan Court, Burrowes alleges that he was coerced into signing away his 25 percent ownership stake in the record label during a violent incident in 1996. He claims that a disgraced hip-hop mogul threatened him with a baseball bat. Presumably, Didi will continue to transfer shares belonging to his mother, Jenis. Daily Mail

Details of the Allegations

The lawsuit alleges that the purported coercion took place in Burrowes’ office in New York, where Didi was allegedly accompanied by Bad Boy Entertainment lawyer Kenneth Meishelas. Burrowes claims that Didi entered with a baseball bat and compelled him to sign over his shares. “The words and actions of Sean Combs and Kenneth Meishelas scared, intimidated, and attacked the plaintiff (Burrowes), forcing him to transfer a certificate for the 25 shares of Bad Boy Entertainment to Sean Combs,” the lawsuit states.

Burrowes expresses that he was “crying tears” and “clearly could not resist these circumstances.” He contends that even though Smalls-Combs was not present, she contributed to orchestrating the scheme behind the scenes.

He claims that when he later approached Smalls-Combs for assistance, she acted as if she was unaware of what her son and Meishelas had done. The lawsuit further states, “The defendants not only deceived Burrowes out of his rightful share in BBE but also systematically sabotaged his career.”

Additionally, Burrowes alleges, “They blackballed him from the music industry, thwarted business opportunities, and destroyed his professional reputation, ensuring he remained financially impoverished and unable to reclaim what was rightfully his.”

Burrowes claims that this situation left him homeless, leading to “long periods of living in shelters throughout New York,” alongside significant financial troubles. He also asserts that he suffered millions in losses after allegedly investing $100,000 of his own money when launching Bad Boy Entertainment.

Seeking Justice

Burrowes is seeking compensation for his financial losses, the restoration of his 25 percent ownership stake, and an independent audit of Bad Boy Entertainment’s income and profits since its inception.

Didi was arrested and charged with various crimes, including sex trafficking and racketeering, last September and is currently in federal custody awaiting trial, consistently denying all allegations against him.

In a recent development, Anthony Ricco, one of Didi’s attorneys, withdrew from the case, stating, “Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as the attorney for Sean Combs in compliance with ABA standards regarding criminal justice.”
