New EP Announcement
There Are No Windows announced their new EP “Great Traitor”, set to be released on May 9. The Edinburgh duo also shared a new single, ‘Come Back.’
Evolution of Sound
This six-track EP follows their 2024 release, Point Nemo, marking their first material since signing with Fat Pusmum Records. The new collection was produced by Ali Cant, known for his collaborations with Dry Cleaning, Apologies, and The Law, moving away from their previous bedroom recording style to a full studio environment.
Multi-instrumentalist Morgan Morris and lyricist Veriti Slangen have evolved their sound for this new EP, incorporating influences from the chamber pop music of the 70s and film compositions. The release features six tracks, including Bear Bear, Cunning, Sugar Kat, The Old Chain Pierce, and Easter Island.
“When I wrote Point Nemo, I was a very different teenager and still very hormonal. I think this EP reflects that a bit,” Slangen explains. “For me, this is a mediation between being a young man and becoming someone in my 20s.”
Discussing the lead single, “Return,” Slangen adds: “This is very angry. The way I sing live is filled with emotions. If I had actually written this back then, it would probably have been a much sadder, softer song.”
