Charlie XCX Wins Songwriter Prize
Charlie XCX has been announced as the recipient of the “Songwriter” Prize, recognizing her as the “Author of the Song” just before this year’s ceremony, adding to her five existing nominations for the 2025 event.
Leading Nominations
The artist tops this year’s nominations, earning spots for Artist of the Year, Mastercard Album of the Year, Song of the Year with Mastercard, Dance Act, and Pop Act. The Author of Songs award highlights outstanding songwriting talent, evaluated by a panel of expert judges. Past winners include Ed Sheeran, Kid Harpoon, and Ray.
Damian Christian, Managing Director and President of Promotions at Atlantic Records, as well as Chairman of the British Committee for 2025, remarked: “Charlie has had an undeniable year, bringing her experimental blend of electronic and pop music from the underground to the forefront of mainstream culture. The uniqueness of Charlie’s songwriting is bold and endlessly innovative, and as a leading songwriter for years, she has elevated her craft to new heights with her global phenomenon.”
This recognition follows the release of Charlie’s sixth studio album, Brat, in June, which peaked at number one on the Official UK Albums Chart in October. The album’s single “Guess,” featuring Billie Eilish, also topped the Official UK Chart.
In October, she released “Brat, and it is completely different, but still Brat,” featuring collaborations with Julian Casablancas, Bon Iver, The 1975, Shygirl, Ariana Grande, and Caroline Polachek.
The Brit Awards 2025 with Mastercard will take place on March 1 at the O2 Arena in London, hosted by Jack Whitehall. The ceremony will showcase performances from Jade, Lola Young, Miles Smith, Sabrina Carpenter, Sam Fender, Teddy Swims, and The Last Party.
