Ozzy Osbourne Prepares for Final Black Sabbath Concert

Ozzy Osbourne has reportedly returned to the gym as he gears up for the highly anticipated final concert of Black Sabbath.

Rumors began circulating earlier this month after the iconic metal band revealed details about their last live show, scheduled to take place in Birmingham on July 5.

Special Guests Join the Lineup

Alongside the original members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, the concert will feature a star-studded list of first acts and special guests, including Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Lamb of God, Tool, Mastodon, Alice in Chains, Guns N’ Roses, Halestorm, Gojira, and many more.

In the days leading up to the concert, it has been reported that Osbourne is working on his strength in the gym to prepare for this monumental show.

Producer Andrew Watt shared insights during a recent interview on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show.

In discussing his work with the “Prince of Darkness” on his last two studio albums, “Ordinary Man” (2020) and “Patient Number 9” (2022), Watt provided updates on Ozzy’s health status.

“He’s doing ok. It’s just that his body doesn’t always cooperate with him,” Watt explained. “However, I spoke with him a few days ago, and he is getting back into the gym to prepare for this final concert.”

“He is a true iron man. And his voice—nothing has happened to it; it’s as strong as ever.”

Health Updates and Upcoming Performance

This update follows Osbourne’s recent comments about his health, indicating that he might perform less than some fans anticipate due to his condition. “I do not plan to do a full set with Black Sabbath, but I will join them for a few songs. I’m focusing on what I can do where I feel comfortable,” he mentioned in an interview earlier this month.

“I’m trying to regain my strength. When you wake up in the morning, you just want to jump out of bed. I have to find my balance, but I’m not done yet. I’m still actively involved.”

Before this, the metal legend disclosed that he “cannot walk” due to Parkinson’s. However, his wife and manager, Sharon, reassured fans that the disease “has not affected his voice.” “Parkinson’s is a progressive illness. It’s not something that stabilizes; it impacts different parts of the body, particularly his legs. But his voice remains as powerful as it ever was,” she explained.

Sharon shared insights about the singer’s health and vocal quality with NME during a conversation at Villa Park following the concert announcement, stating that her husband is currently “doing great” and feels “very emotional” about this final performance. “This is what he desires,” she noted. “He wants to express his gratitude to everyone. This might be his last chance due to his illness, but now he has an opportunity.”

Sharon also mentioned to NME that this “back to the beginning” concert would “just celebrate the old music that still resonates,” rather than producing any new music. “You reach a stage in your career where everything you do cannot top what you’ve achieved before,” she explained. “To be able to rest on past successes and know, ‘People still love this, and it still sells’ is enough.”

Tickets for the concert went on sale on February 14, and due to overwhelming demand, many fans were left disappointed, struggling to secure their tickets. Additionally, some criticized the high ticket prices, although all profits are directed towards Parkinson’s treatment, a children’s hospital in Birmingham, and the Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Meanwhile, Iommi and Butler shared statements regarding the upcoming reunion on social media, while Bob Daisley, the classic era bassist for Ozzy, noted that he was not invited to perform at the band’s final show.

In recent news, it has been confirmed that a new Ozzy Osbourne documentary is in the works, which will address the health challenges the metal icon has been facing in recent years.
