Mom Follows Their Hearts with New Single “Bottle Blonde” Ahead of April Album Release

Mother’s New Album Release

Mother teases the release of their upcoming album “Welcome to My Blue Sky,” which is set to drop on April 4 via Lucky Number, along with the new single “Blonde Bottle.”

Song Inspiration and Themes

Accompanied by an independent video featuring behind-the-scenes footage from their tour, the track conveys themes of friendship between group members Etta Friedman and Allegra Weinarten.

“We wrote this song as a letter to our past ‘I’ when we were 23 and 24 years old, navigating an incredibly exhausting tour that ultimately took a toll on our hearts and minds,” Friedman (they/them) and Weingarten (she/her) share.

“At that time, we both had bleached hair and were grappling with monumental life decisions that altered our lives and self-perception. The song initially served as an encouragement to our younger selves, assuring us that everything would be okay if we followed our hearts. Now, looking back, the lyrics also reflect our conversations with each other.”

The new album, recorded at Studio G in Brooklyn and produced by the Aron Kobayashi Psychic Group, follows their 2022 release, Observation. This 12-track album was recorded live with a full band, featuring drummer Preston Fulks.

“Bottle Blonde” is the latest single following their previous releases, “I Want You (Fever)” and “Ohio All the Time.”
