Fontaines DC Debuts New Song “It Is Amazing to Be Young” Live in Tokyo

New Single Debut

Fontaines DC performed their new single “It is amazing to be young” live for the first time during a concert at Tokyo Toyosu Pit.

Details of the Release

The track, produced with James Ford, was unveiled during the Irish band’s performance on February 22. The single is set to be released on vinyl at the end of this year, accompanied by a B-side titled “Before you, I will just forget.”

Inspiration Behind the Song

Discussing the new song, bassist Konor ‘Deego’ Deegan III shares that it was crafted during the sessions for their latest album, Romance. “It is amazing to be young – this is a song that was inspired by the presence of a newborn child – the child of Carlos. It resembles a lullaby or a music box, but retains the same lyrics – ‘It is amazing to be young,’” Dygan remarks.

He further explains: “The hope that a child embodies is profound and moving, especially for young people like us. It evokes a desire to create a world in which they can thrive happily. This feeling stands in contrast to the cynicism that often surrounds us in today’s society. Hence, we wanted to express where we stand – it truly is remarkable to be young. We still feel free and aim to nurture this sentiment for those around us, perhaps as a way to safeguard it for ourselves as well.”
