Thirty Seconds to Mars: Get Ready for the Long-Awaited Return to Rock!

Jared Leto’s Exciting Announcement

Thirty seconds before the frontman of Thirty Seconds to Mars, Jared Leto, hinted that they could “finally make a rock album again.”

Shifting Sound and Possible Return to Roots

Originally formed as a rock group in 1998, Thirty Seconds to Mars has embraced a more electronic sound in recent years with albums like “This Is the End of the World, But This Is a Wonderful Day,” “America” (2018), and “Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams” (2013), which drew inspiration from pop influences.

Now, however, Leto is teasing that a return to their roots may be in the works. In a recent video shared on Instagram, he is seen sitting at his laptop with his team, jokingly reacting to the phrase “View the First Troll Talk SH! T, after we finally make a rock album.”

The video includes the caption: “Like and share if you want a rock album,” which Leto responded to with several devilish emojis. Check it out below.

Although it’s uncertain when new material will be released, the band is set to perform in Europe this summer at the Madrid Mad Cool festival.

2024 Tour and Past Struggles

This appearance will follow their 2024 tour, which is their first in five years. Leto announced this long-awaited series of shows while climbing the Empire State Building.

Throughout the tour, the band performed in South America, North America, the UK, and Europe, and surprised fans during a show in Glasgow by bringing a member of Jedward on stage.

Last year, Leto reflected on the band’s previous financial struggles, explaining that there was a time when they were “millions of dollars in debt.”

This turmoil arose around their breakthrough album “A Beautiful Lie,” released in 2005, which initially put the band on the map. Despite selling nearly three million copies of their debut album, they faced significant debt due to a dispute with their label.

“We sold millions of copies, and then we found that we not only did not earn a single cent, but also were millions of dollars in debt,” Leto recalled during an interview on Kyle and Jackie O in Australia, reflecting on their early days.

“We were in a dispute. They sued us for $30 million for breach of contract, and then we made a film about it. Ultimately, we navigated this crazy chapter of our lives, and it’s nice to be on the other side.”

The film Leto referred to is the 2012 documentary Artifact, which chronicles the modern music industry and follows the band’s $30 million breach of contract dispute with EMI. The lawsuit was initiated in 2008 when they failed to deliver the third album under their contract and clashed with the label over fees.
