Sai Gray’s Debut Album
Sai Gray has debuted her album “Say ‘Via Dirty Hit,” featuring a collection of 10 tracks that follow her previous singles “Shell,” “HBW,” and “Lie Down.”
Creative Journey
This release follows Gray’s 2023 project ’19 Masters’ and the subsequent EPs “QWERTY” and “QWERTY II.” The album was inspired by her solo journey through Japan in the fall of 2023, drawing influence from legendary artists like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Joni Mitchell.
Musical Evolution
During the recording process, Gray honed her sound around melodic folk influences. The lead single “Shell (of Man)” notably incorporates elements of country music, showcasing her guitar work and layered vocals.
Born in Toronto to a Japanese mother and a Scottish father, Gray began her musical journey in a church group at age five. By 16, she was performing at jazz festivals and nightclubs and later toured internationally as a bassist for Grammy-winning artists before embarking on her solo career.
