At the close of last month, Fireaid held two simultaneous concerts in Los Angeles to generate funds for the victims of the devastating fires earlier this year. According to the official Fireaid website, the organization raised an impressive total exceeding $100 million.
Details on Grant Distribution
Half of the $100 million raised was earmarked for grants, prioritizing “public organizations that are at the forefront of wildfire relief.” On February 18, Fireaid announced the first round of grants, totaling $50 million – with each recipient expected to receive at least $100,000, which should be utilized for immediate support.
Grants represent the first phase of funding distribution by Fireaid. The remaining $50 million will be allocated to organizations focused on restoration and long-term support for those affected by the destructive wildfires.
The grant recipients for the initial $50 million have been categorized into ten groups: children and families, public centers and organizers, natural disaster assistance, access to food and safety, displaced workers and small businesses, healthcare and housing, musicians and artists, public resources and services, students and schools, and support services for vulnerable populations.
Among the grantees in the Musicians and Artists category are the Armory Center, Fire Assistance Fund LA Arts Community, La Commons, the Art Fund, and the creative restoration initiative from the Los Angeles Foundation, “Sweet Relief Musicians.”

The concerts also featured a remarkable reunion, including an unexpected performance by Nirvana with guest appearances from Joan Jett, Kim Gordon, and Saint Vincent. Check out the shocking reunion performance here.
