A member of Blackpink, Jisoo, recently shared that Britney Spears served as an inspiration for her debut solo mini-album, “shock -sis”.

Jisoo’s Blackpink recently talked with Billboard about her debut solo mini-album, the “shock absorber”, which was released on Valentine’s Day (February 14). When asked about her inspirations, the K-Pop star mentioned Britney Spears, who has been a significant figure in pop music.

“Every time I prepare for a solo release, I always return to her … Baby again as a reference,” she expressed in an interview. “I love this pop atmosphere, and I always say: ‘I want to create something with that kind of energy.’ This is a video that consistently inspires me to craft my own work.”

Upcoming World Tour Plans

In another segment of her interview, Jisoo hinted at Blackpink’s upcoming world tour in 2025. “I think that last year, as each member focused on individual projects, we all grew. Now that we are entering this year, I feel we can come back with an even more remarkable and impressive presence,” she stated.

She also mentioned that the Blackpink members are “excited” about the world tour and enjoy “sharing ideas” with each other. “We have already done a lot of preparation for this year,” she added.

“Amortage” is Jisoo’s first musical release since her solo debut two years ago with the album “Me”. Released in March 2023, this album featured the title track “Flower” and the B-side, “All GEATS On Me”.

This is also her first foray into solo music since establishing her own Blissoo label in early 2024, following her departure from the long-standing label YG Entertainment a few months prior.

Focus on Acting Career

Beyond music, Jisoo has also focused on her acting career. The K-Pop star recently starred in the Prime Video K-Drama, Newtopia, alongside 8 Show actor Park Chon-Min. The series marks her first leading role since the 2021 series Snowdrop.
