On Friday (February 14), the singer streamed live on Twitch, where she shared the clip, becoming emotional as she gazed into the camera. As her tears transitioned into laughter, Lizzo concluded the clip with a direct stare into the lens while the date February 28 flashed on the screen.

“The new era begins today,” she added. “I really get a gag in my throat.”

End of an Era

This broadcast followed her recent statement, which seemed to mark a significant conclusion to her previous phase, centered around her fourth studio album, “Special.” On Instagram, she declared, “This is the end of a special era,” on Thursday (February 13). “This album signified my return to society after the challenging 2020 and 2021 period. My goal was to encourage listeners to turn on the music, switch off the dark, and feel like they could be okay.”

“I aimed to remind everyone that even when broken, they can still be perfect in their own unique way. Through 12 songs, 68 shows, spanning 14 countries and 3 continents, and nearly a million votes, we showcased our uniqueness. We went through this journey together. While I cherish the accolades, including Grammys, Emmys, and Platinum Records, what I treasure most is the legacy we created. Tears and uplifting energies! I thank God daily for allowing me to work in this field, which I truly do not take lightly.”

Recent Highlights

Following her announcement, Lizzo demonstrated a playful farewell to her past artistic phase by spray painting “BYE Bitch” in red over the artwork from her album, which you can see above.

Additionally, she recently celebrated reaching her “weight release” goals, encouraging her followers: “Let this be a reminder that you can achieve everything you set your mind to.”

In December, she addressed the sexual harassment lawsuit filed against her in 2023, affirming she “did nothing wrong.” The suit involved claims from three former dancers alleging sexual harassment and a hostile work environment during her tour. Lizzo firmly denied these claims, expressing that the experience made her contemplate leaving the music industry.
