Celebrating 50 Years of SNL
The hitmaker of “Plastic Hearts” was announced as a performer to celebrate the 50th anniversary of SNL. Last month, she appeared on the show three times and served as a musical guest four times, with her most recent appearance in 2021.
During her victorious performance of “Write Down the Victorious Track,” she encouraged the New York crowd to sing along, referencing her comments from the Grammy 2024 stage when she asked, “Why are you behaving as if you don’t know this song?”
Turning to the audience last night, she playfully asked: “Do you do this Grammy thing where you’re famous and don’t sing? Sorry for my language.”
This was one of several viral moments during the show, including her playful shout-out to her “friend” Adam Sandler, and Anya Taylor-Joy and Pedro Pascal dancing and singing together, as well as Cyrus exclaiming, “I love you, Paul Rudd!” while the Ant star sat in the audience, blowing her a kiss.

She concluded her performance, taking a bow and stating: “I love you, (SNL Creator) Lorne Michaels!”
SNL celebrated its 50th anniversary, launching its 50th season at the end of September. Among the planned content for the anniversary is a special film documenting the iconic Saturday Night Live programming, featuring Questlove, among others.
In a three-star review of Saturday Night, Jordan Bassett wrote for NME: “A rather inspiring ode emerges from chaos to capture the essence of living in the moment, saying ‘yes’ and hoping for the best.”
“You can either get ‘half-outlet shows with half a donkey,’ as Dafoe fabulously demonstrates at one point, or you can create a story. This is what Saturday Night almost accomplishes, making it worth watching. As any impromptu comedian would tell you: stick with it, and you will find gold.”
In other news, Cyrus teased her next era for the end of 2024 and expressed her excitement to “start all over again.” Previously, she mentioned that her upcoming studio album was inspired by Pink Floyd’s “The Wall,” describing it as “more glamorous and filled with pop culture.”
