Here’s what unfolded when Shakira launched her “Las Mujeres” initiative.

Shakira’s World Tour Launch

Shakira kicked off her massive “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” World Tour in Rio last night – see below for the main details of the event.

Tour Highlights

This tour marks her first in seven years and promotes her 2024 album, for which she recently won the Best Latin Pop Grammy at the beginning of this month.

Shakira commenced the show with “La Fuerte”, a collaboration with a frequent associate of Bizarrap. She also performed several tracks from her new album, including “Session 53”, “TQG”, “Monotonia” and “Te felicito”.

The production was particularly intricate, featuring 160-inch screens and the first-ever animated CGI representation of Shakira during the interludes.

Shakira sold 18 stadium dates in less than 2 hours across Latin America. She will be performing in Colombia, Chile, Argentina, and Mexico, and is set to return to her hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia, at the end of this month.

In the spring, she will transition to the North American leg of the tour. In October, she had to postpone the initial run of dates to upgrade them from arenas to stadiums due to high demand.

In a four-star review of “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran”, NME noted: “With a career spanning four decades, she continues to push the envelope for Latin pop music and transforms the genre into a global phenomenon. While her past albums featured at least one English song, this time she opted to sing entirely in Spanish. Through this vulnerable yet universal collection, Shakira demonstrates that the art of her catharsis through music knows no boundaries.”

Recently, Shakira dedicated her fourth Grammy victory to her “brothers and sisters of immigrants” with a heartfelt message: “You love, you are worth it, and I will always fight for you. For all those women who work tirelessly every day to ensure their families have everything they need.”

Since the Trump administration took office, swift actions on immigration have occurred, with immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) reporting the arrests of 956 individuals on January 26.
