Kanye West Cuts Ties with Talent Agency Following Anti-Semitic Comments

Kanye West Drops Talent Agency

Kanye West was let go by his talent agency following his highly controversial statements on social media last week.

According to a report by Diversity, the artist, now legally known as Ye, was dropped by his agency 33 & West in Los Angeles on Monday (February 10). At 33 & West, Kanye was represented by agent Daniel McCartney, who took to social media to announce that he had severed ties with the rapper.

Controversial Comments Result in Agency Split

According to Diversity, McCartney stated in his Instagram story that 33 & West is cutting all connections with Kanye “effective immediately,” explaining that it was due to the “harmful and hateful comments that I, and 33 & West, cannot tolerate.”

Katya Stone also reported that an employee from Kanye West’s Yeezy (also known as Yzy) departed the company after a series of the rapper’s controversial posts over the weekend.

According to Katya Stone, the employee, identified as Eric Kui, had served as the chief of staff at Yeezy. Kui expressed in his exit statement, “I loved working at Yzy because I believed in the dream. I advocate for freedom of speech… Therefore, I will use my freedom of speech to say that violence and crimes against women and children are wrong.”

Kui’s departure followed Kanye West’s posting of tweets supporting Diddy and Chris Brown, urging that Diddy be released from prison amid allegations of sexual violence.

Support for Controversial Figures

After his support for Diddy and Brown—who has faced multiple accusations of domestic violence—Kanye went to X (previously Twitter), where he stated he claims “dominion” over his wife, Bianca, and attempted to retract his apologies to the Jewish community for past antisemitic remarks, even declaring himself a “Nazi.”

He also tweeted, “I love Hitler,” praised Elon Musk, the billionaire and X owner, as “the most lit man who has ever been on Twitter,” and asserted that everyone else was looking at him. Musk himself faced backlash earlier this year for making Nazi gestures during Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration.

Other posts involved him mocking marginalized communities and making controversial claims, including “slavery is a choice.” He even removed items from his site and sold a white T-shirt featuring a large swastika, labeled as “HH-01.” The shirt costs $20, and the name may reference the phrase “Hail Hitler,” accompanying Nazi gestures.
