Tributes from the music community
Robert Louis, the founder of his label Tru Mense, made an extensive post today (February 11), confirming the news of Terror Danjah’s (real name Rodney Price) death. “Rest in the world of terrorism Danju,” it reads. “It is very sad to hear the news about his death. Everyone at TRU MENSE extends condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by his legacy.”
He continued: “He was an innovative and influential producer who helped lay the groundwork and creativity in grime with numerous releases, as well as pushing his own R&G genre with R&B singers over grime productions. He was and will remain a vital part of musical culture.”
Pryce, who was born in East London, is widely regarded as one of the greatest grime producers of all time, having worked with notable names such as Kano, D Double E, and Ghetts.
Born to Jamaican parents, the producer was immersed in a sound culture that heavily influenced his musical style. He started as a member of the Hopact Crew and later saw his tracks released by respected labels such as Hyperdub, Planet Mu, and his own Hardrive Records.
He was recognized as a key figure in the R&G (Rhythm and Grime) movement, blending grime elements with R&B. As his influence expanded, he collaborated with artists like Wiley, Dizzee Rascal, and Tinie Tempah.
Fans and industry colleagues have paid tribute to Price, expressing their condolences to his family and loved ones. The rapper and TV presenter Big Zuu described the producer as “a very kind soul that always had time for Mandem and just wanted us to win. Sending prayers and blessings to your family.”
Hudson Mohake referred to him as “one of (his) beloved,” while DJ Opium Hum called him “one of the greatest when it comes to this.” Meanwhile, DJ Kush Jones praised his style as “truly unique.”
The producer and DJ Plastician remarked: “Such a talented producer and a great person who brought forth creativity. He never left my playlists. He never will.” Another rapper wrote: “Heaven has gained not just an angel, but also a British legend,” while another MC, Mang Saint-Khilare, added: “What you created and taught will live on forever.”
