Impact of Taylor Swift’s Tour
Sabrina Carpenter talked about how her experience of supporting Taylor Swift’s tour influenced her own journey.
Speaking to Vogue, Carpenter reflected on her 25-day stint opening for Swift, noting: “Her stadiums make my show feel more like clubs.” The singer elaborated on the impact of watching Swift perform, saying: “Watching her was like seeing her play in their living room, it felt as if I conveyed to her, ‘Your tour allowed me to create my own.’”
Release Strategy for Her Album
Carpenter also discussed the release strategy behind her album “Short N’ Sweet,” revealing that her team at Island Label initially wanted to lead with “please, please, please” as the single. However, she insisted on prioritizing “Espresso” for her debut at Coachella. “There’s something in this song that if I hadn’t heard her before and experienced her live for the first time, I would totally get it,” she explained. “I definitely leaned in a different direction, but deep inside, I knew it was this song. I was concerned about disappointing people for like five minutes. Then I thought: ‘No.’”
