Tour Announcement for 2025

In a recent announcement on February 11, it was revealed that this upcoming tour marks the first time since 2006 that Bloc Party has toured together, alongside some exciting milestones for 2025. This year signifies the 20th anniversary of their debut album “Silent Alarm.” To celebrate this significant occasion, they will perform the album in its entirety alongside their greatest hits.

Metric will also be celebrating, as they plan to perform all the tracks from their beloved “Fantasies” album, released in 2009, along with other favorites from their catalog.

“Indie dreams really do come true,” shared Metric in a new post on Instagram, announcing the tour details. “We are reviving ‘Fantasies’ this spring! We will perform the album in full as part of a special tour, hitting 13 cities.”

They further added, “We’ll be visiting iconic venues, including the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver and Forest Hills in New York. Additionally, our first headlining show in Toronto since 2022 will take place at the Budweiser Stage on Friday, June 6, featuring Bloc Party and our longtime friends, ‘Dear’ as the openers.”

The tour will kick off on May 10 at the Heaven in Pasadena and will include stops at the MGM Music Hall in Boston and Forest Hills Stadium in New York by the end of the month.

The remaining shows will occur throughout the following month, featuring stops in Washington, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, and more. The tour will culminate with performances at the Greek Theater in Berkeley and the Cloud Theater in Portland on June 14 and 16, respectively, concluding with a final concert in Seattle on June 17.

The announcement about Bloc Party celebrating the 20th anniversary of “Silent Alarm” follows last year’s news that the band would perform the album in full during their live shows in 2025.

They previously did a similar performance during a special anniversary show in London last summer. The concert, held on July 7 in Crystal Palace Park, marked their largest attendance to date, drawing a crowd of 25,000 over two hours.

Bloc Party’s last release was the 2022 album “Alpha Games.” In a three-star review, NME noted: “Alpha Games shows that Bloc Party continues to stand firm in the ’00s scene from which they emerged, yet without a hint of nostalgia. With fresh energy and a commitment to progress, this sixth album could resonate with a new generation of indie rock fans.”

In the meantime, former Bloc Party bassist Gordon Moakes has formed a new band called “None” and has announced their upcoming EP titled “Care.” Frontman Kele Okereke has also revealed a new solo album titled ‘The Singing Winds PT. 3’ with a lead single, “It Shouldn’t Be.”

Metric also released their last record “Formentera II” in 2023, which features tracks like “Nothing Perfect,” “Who Would You Be for Me,” and “Just This One Day.”

Emily Haines spoke with NME about how this record connects to its predecessor “Formentera,” stating, “All 18 songs were created in the same time frame from 2020 to 2023. By 2022, we were evaluating this work and figuring out the best strategy for releasing it.”

“There was no necessity to release everything at once, which wasn’t particularly enjoyable when informing the audience that there would be more to come. So, we chose to make surprise announcements about this on the anniversary of our first album.”
