New Single Release
BDRMM has unveiled their latest single, “Lake Disappointment”, serving as the final preliminary preview of their upcoming third album “Microtonic”, set to be released via Rock Action Records.
Musical Direction and Influences
The latest offering from the Hull-based group further explores electronic elements, following their recent singles “John on the Ceiling” and “Endless Peak”. This sonic evolution has been shaped by their experiences supporting Daniel Avery and performing at London’s Field Day festival.
Singer and guitarist Ryan Smith reflects on the track, stating: “It was such a dream to work on. I feel that amidst the melancholy of the album, there’s also a lot of anger. We channel that frustration and say ‘fuck you’ to those who’ve wronged us.” He adds that this may be “the most aggressive and exciting song we’ve created.”
Music Video Experience
The single is accompanied by a music video directed by Joe and Scott, artists known for their compelling visual storytelling. Smith shares his thoughts on the experience: “I will always cherish the memory of shooting the video. We ventured to an abandoned warehouse in Sheffield, enlisted an incredible production team, and built our own dystopian trading channel (inspired by our guidelines for Microtech). We endured a week of illness after standing in the cold for 12 hours in hospital gowns, but it was all worth it. No pain, no gain (we’re still awaiting those gains).”
